How does the Plissé© from Screen Solutions differ from other retractable screens?
The Plissé© (pronounced plee-say) takes advantage of the unique pleated, or plissé© fabric, which folds into the pull bar of the screen assembly, rather than rolling onto a spring loaded tube.
What is the advantage of the Plissé© type of construction?
The most important advantage is the simplicity of construction. Because all of the bearings and springs and other complex moving parts of the conventional retractable screen have been eliminated the Plissé© is more dependable, more economical, and more adaptable to imperfect openings.
Is the Plissé© more dependable than other retractable screens?
Yes, the construction of the Plissé© is much simpler so there are fewer things to go wrong, which means a more dependable long lasting screen.
Can the Plissé© be used in openings that are out of square and/or not level?
Yes, the Plissé© will adapt to any of the imperfections that are commonly found in door and window openings without effecting performance. If the door is wider at the top than the bottom, the threshold is not level or the frame is simply out of square the Plisse will fit into the opening and perform as expected.
How does the Plissé© perform in windy conditions?
The Plissé© will withstand much greater wind loads that other retractable screens. Other retractable screens will blow out of the frame or even pop open in winds as low as 8 MPH where as the Plissé© with its tensioning lines and unique pleated fabric will withstand winds many times as strong.
Does the Plissé© pop open like other retractable screens?
No, since it is not spring loaded the Plissé© will not pop open due to wind or being bumped. The Plissé© stays where you put it, whether that is closed, open or any where in between it stays there. This makes the Plissé© safer for small children and pets because there is no danger of little fingers or small animals being smashed by the screen opening unexpectedly
Does the Plissé© disappear like other retractable screens?
Yes, when not in use the Plissé© retracts even more completely because there is no need for the bulky housing that conventional retractable screens use. This means that when retracted the Plissé© has a smaller overall size than other retractable screens.
Is the pleated fabric used in the Plissé© more visible when in use?
Yes, the pleated fabric is slightly more visible when in use. This makes the Plissé© a safer choice since you are much less likely to accidentally run into the Plissé©. This is particularly important for older folks, small children and pets.
Can the Plissé© be installed on double or French doors?
Yes, the Plissé© is now available to cover openings up to 100 inches in width with a double unit that meets in the middle and has no stationary center bar.
Can Plissé© screens be installed on windows?
Yes, because of the small profile of the Plissé© frame it is particularly suitable for window applications. The Plissé© can be mounted so that it operates up and down or side to side for window applications.
Can Plissé© screens be installed on out swing doors?
Yes, the Plissé© can be mounted on the inside for doors that swing out. Due to the small profile the Plissé© will be much more inconspicuous than other retractable screens.
Can retractable screens be installed on out swing doors?
Yes, in the case of out swing doors, the retractable screen can be mounted on the inside of the door.
Can retractable screens be installed on windows?
Yes, retractable screens can be installed on windows or doors. Windows can be installed to open vertically (screen opens to the top of the window) or horizontally (screen opens to the right or left side of the window)
Can these retractable screens be installed to open left to right or right to left?
Yes, all of the retractable screens can be installed to open either left or right.
On a window installation, can retractable screens go up and down or side to side.
Yes, all of the retractable screens we sell can be mounted to open toward the top or toward either side.
Do you have retractable screens that can be installed on double or French doors?
The Plissé© is available for door openings up to 104 inches wide and can be installed on double or French doors up to that width. For larger doubles we may have other options which are available, feel free to contact us at sales@plissescreen.com for more information.
Are retractable screens a good choice for households with dogs, cats or other pets?
Some retractable screens are a better choice for pets than others. The Plissé© is more visible, and not being spring loaded, is not subject to opening unexpectedly so may be a better choice for many pets. All retractable screens have the distinct advantage of being inaccessible to your pet when open and therefore not available to be damaged or destroyed.
What is the warranty?
We offer a limited lifetime warranty on all of the retractable screen products that we sell. Abuse, neglect, and misuse are expressly excluded from the Warranty. Screen fabric wear is not covered under the warranty.
Can the screen fabric be replaced?
Yes the screen fabric can be replaced in any of our retractable screens. We have recently debuted our new Easy to Replace Fabric which most homeowners can do themselves at home with our detailed instructions and new design.
What colors are available?
There are five standard, available colors in the Plisse retractable door screens. In addition to these colors, we offer Custom Color Matching. Visit our Available Colors page to learn more and see color samples.
What level of Sun or UV protection do the screens provide?
The standard screen fabric provides about 35% reductions in sunlight and UV entering the home. We have other products and fabrics which provide much more protection from sunlight and UV.
Can I install my own retractable screens?
Yes, if you would attempt to install your own window blinds then you can certainly install the Plissé© retractable screen. The other types of retractable screens we sell require more special tools and skills and therefore may be better left to professionals.
Can I get professional installation?
We offer professional installation of all the products we sell in our area. This professional installation is available in South Florida and the Austin, TX metro area. Outside this area we may be able to help find an affiliated installer or Poseidon Interiors Dealer. If you live in the Austin, TX metro area where we provide professional installation, purchase this option online with your screen. If you live outside that area, please request an affiliated installer. Either way you will then be contacted to make the arrangements.
I live in another part of Texas. Do you install screens in my area?
No, unfortunately we do not regularly install retractable screens outside of the Austin, Texas metro area. Our Plisse retractable screens are designed to be easily installed be the customer following our simple, easy to follow instructions or if you are not comfortable doing it yourself we are happy to refer you to a professional in your area that can do it for you.
I live outside of Texas. Do you install screens in my area?
